| I'm back in the game!
This one's for any faithful readers of mine who survived my bloggernation (like hibernation, for blogs...you must admit, this weather is not very hospitable for blogging). Anyway, I think this week has got to be the best week of the year. Those other 51 weeks ain't got shit on this one. Fo' real. When Engineers' week, March Madness, and the World Baseball Classic all collide over 7 days, it's like a cosmic event. Or something. See you all in a couple months again!
| Hey all,
So it's been over a month since my last post. Is it ok to blame Jeff?
Here's a (bulleted) list of things I've learned since my last blog entry:
- I've grown quite impervious to cold weather (so far)
- I cannot master my procrastination, no matter how much that frustrates me
- I have a mysterious and powerful innate skill allowing me rock harder than anyone else here at Guitar hero
- I can't fall asleep with reading a book first
- I miss my computer's long-lost ability to play audio
- I can walk extremely quietly -- perhaps I could've been a spy or assassin or some other clandestine operative
- I found my first opportunity ever to use the word clandestine
- Sudoku is addictive, but it'll never supplant a good ol' crossword puzzle for me
- 4 years is too long to live in the same house during college
- I'll probably never have a comfortable holiday at my dad's again
- I'll have a master's degree soon and will have never been able to read through a textbook
- I'm very shocked (and pleased) at my ability to keep my workout regimen going
- If I can't think of what I want for Christmas, how can I decide what to get friends and family?
- I'm useless before lunch
- I'm seeing Sigur Ros in February, and I can't wait
Ok, I think that pretty much sums up what I've learned or realized in the last month or so. You might notice that I've not listed anything I've learned in the last month of classes and think I'm leaving that out. No friend, I'm not.
| Hey to my peeps,
Last night was Julia and Ryan's annual Halloween bash. I had some trouble thinking of a good costume, so I stole an idea used by a friend of a friend. I attached some of those little single-serving cereal boxes to my clothing and had some plastic knives sticking though the boxes, making me a....CEREAL KILLER! My costume was easily a contender for the costume needing the least work to create. Some other costumes there: Ryan and Julia were goths (Ryan even had the leather pants), some guy dressed as Luigi (we talked about his failure to find a shorter, rounder dude to be Mario, and how in a perfect world, he'd also have a Fireball Mario and Racoon Mario with him), 4 guys that came together dressed as the cast of Anchorman, Rasta Santa, and Marilyn Monroe. But in my opinion, the best costume was a couple dressed as John F. and Jackie Kennedy. Jason had a suit on and sported a gunshot wound in his head, and Ashley had her Jackie-style dress and hat on, and she had a blood-splattered face. I don't know how they came up with it.
Did I also mention that Julia and Ryan supplied a keg of Boulevard Wheat at the party. Mmmmmmmm.
| Here is a bulleted list of the things I've been doing today to avoid studying for my impossibly hard Nonlinear Control exam Thursday:
- Paying bills
- Working out
- Watching part of a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode which I've seen at least 5 times (it's the one with Bob Odenkirk as Gil, the ex-porn star...Scott, you should watch it).
- Watching part of the Daily Show (the guest was Al Franken...you can't miss that).
- Watching the first 2 innings of game 4 of the World Series
- Briefly napping
- Managing my Netflix queu
- Asking Pat and Brian what the *$#& they know about nonlinear control
- Cleaning my room (nowhere near done, though...that'll have to wait till finals week).
- Posting a blog entry
- Renewing my library books
- Trying to decide what my 3rd class will be next semester along with Hydraulic Control and Matrix Theory
- Trying to decide on a Halloween costume for Julia's Halloween party
- Sending in the rebate for my new monitor
- Doing 2 crossword puzzles
- Doing 1 sudoku puzzle
- Staring at wall
- Staring at other wall...

| I recently saw part of High Fidelity, and that prompted me to think about my 5 desert island cd's:
1. Modest Mouse - The Moon and Antarctica
(although it's a tight race with Lonesome Crowded West
2. Radiohead - OK Computer
3. American Analog Set - Know by Heart
4. Jeff Buckley - Grace
5. Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
